Château Haut Prieur, La Croix, Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux, 2021

Smells dark and heady, blackcurrants and black cherries with hints of dark floral scents and dark chocolate. High acidity counters the expectation of more richness from the nose, there's some weight here but lots of freshness and acidity keeping this lifted. I love the soft chalky, mineral texture, a bit of grip around the mouth giving the weight on the tongue. Clean and clear on the finish but with interest. A mixture of clay and limestone terroir. Will be organic certified in 2025.
