Château Teyssier, Pezat Rosé, Bordeaux, France, 2016

From the Jonathan Maltus stable comes this light, Provence style rosé, only it is made at one of his St-Émilion properties. Maltus is widely acclaimed for the glamorous style of his wines, and although this example favours elegance over richness and fruit expression, there is some roundness to the body alongside vibrant strawberry and vanilla flavours. The fruit is ripe but not sweet, emphasised by more savoury-edged red apple and redcurrant notes coming through on the mid-palate. There are some sweet spices that appear on the refreshing, but not crisp, finish.
