Domaine Cambis, Jardins Suspendus, St-Chinian Berlou, Languedoc, France 2022

This wine comes from the Berlou micro-cru in the northeast of the St-Chinian appellation, and the vines here are between 300-350m altitude – significantly higher than in the southern part of St-Chinian. This has brought a whole ton of freshness, meaning the wine can be complex, dark and brooding but also approachable and refreshing. Quite an achievement in an area with so much sun and ripeness. The aromas seduce immediately with blackberry and briar, but also with lifted redcurrants, honey, toast, mushroom, chocolate and raspberry. It's silky, with integrated tannins and a very fine satin-like texture.
