Domaine Carobelle, Gigondas, Rhône, France, 2016
(at 90 York Way, London, 18 May 2017)
Farmed organically with grapes sourced from old vines, this is a classic southern Rhône offering, opening up with red and black fruit and some sweet spice. Big and bold on the palate, it has a firm structure and tension, and will pair nicely with fillet steak. A great alternative to Châteauneuf-du-Pape which will easily age for another five years.
