This fairly simple wine has been on sale at Tesco for a couple of years now, and remains incredible value. It's a Bordeaux blend (86% Merlot, with Cabernets Sauvignon and Franc), but from neighbouring Bergerac, made by one of the largest producers in southwest France. It's a blend of vintages, vinified in stainless steel, which helps to keep the price down. It offers fresh, cool forest fruits and a hint of dark earthiness, charming, approachable and uncomplicated, and made for drinking in its youth. A steal at the price, and a great partner for charcuterie.
