A barrel fermented version of Stellenrust's Manor Chenin Blanc, using older, 52 year old vines. Fermentation takes place in French barriques, of which 16% are new and the rest used. The wine is matured for nine months on the lees before bottling. It has citrus, baked apple and some sweet spice notes on the nose. The palate is really zesty, with a lemon acidity defining the bruised apple and sweet spice flavours, framed by a slight woody astringency with vanilla hints. Long finish.

Lots to admire on the nose, with notes of mineral, wax, honey, grass, peach and orange blossom. Juicy acidity helps to hold together the rich, botrytised notes of marmalade and decadently ripe fruit that define the palate, before a lengthy cedar note takes over on the finish.
