The 'W.P.' Foley is sourced from the Clara block behind Roth and blends 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Malbec, 2% Petit Verdot, and 3% Merlot. Fermented in stainless steel with some barrel fermentation in puncheons, it is aged 18 months in approximately 80% new French oak. This 2022 release, made after skipping the 2019 and 2020 vintages, is exceptionally stylish. It opens with pure black fruit aromatics, rich baking spices, sandalwood, and cedar. The palate showcases crunchy currant fruit, dark cacao notes, and a full-bodied structure with robust tannins. Generous and layered, the wine finishes with savoury wild herb nuances, mineral tension, and complex notes of wild fennel, espresso bean, and pressed florals.
