Henriot, Cuvée des Enchanteleurs, Champagne 1996
Like the straight vintage Henriot (always among the best, and best value, ’96s) the prestige Enchanteleurs is very much in that mouthwateringly mineral style. There is even better purity and precision here thanks to use of the best Grand Cru grapes. Though the blend is 50/50 Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, the great white grape shines, especially the late Joseph Henriot’s favourite parcel of Chouilly Les Partelaines. Secondary notes of butter, hazelnut and peach confit lurk within the mineral frame. Tops!
