Te Mata Estate, Coleraine 2013
Both 2013 and 2014 were excellent vintages, yet totally different in character. 2013 was extraordinarily dry – the driest for 70 years – yet the vintage was not particularly hot. Extremely cool night time temperatures have added great precision and finesse to this vin de garde. Very full-bodied on the palate, the cool menthol character on the nose and great concentration are reminiscent of young, high ranking Pauillac. Structured and not overwhelmed by fruit, this has great ageing potential.
