While Juan Antonio Ponce, a pioneer of biodynamics in Spain’s Manchuela region, is known as a master of the Bobal grape, this lifted, ethereal style of Grenache proves he’s no one-trick pony. Its bright aromas of strawberries, raspberries, violets and iris are enticing, and its palate has a lithe, bouncy, fruity, flouncy character. That floral lift and a hint of tomato leaf lends depth and complexity. There’s structure here, it’s deceptive because it’s so drinkable and fresh yet the tannins are quite present and fine. Biodynamically farmed, organic certified.
