Last night's venue for the Decanter Retailer of the Year Awards 2014 was The Connaught Hotel in central London. Guests enjoyed Laurent-Perrier Champagne at last night's event. Giles Cooper of Bordeaux Index picks up the award for specialist Bordeaux retailer of the year, flanked by Decanter's tastings director, Christelle Guibert, and the awards chairman, Peter Richards MW. Philippa Wright and Johnny Goedhuis collect their award for specialist Burgundy retailer of the year. Olivier Burton and Paule Rebeyrolle, of Howard Ripley, collect the prize for specialist German wines retailer of the year. Bruno Cernecca proudly holds Vini Italiani's award for specialist Italian wines retailer of the year. Andrew Rae picks up the award for Uncorked, for specialist Rhone retailer of the year. Julian Huyart (left) and Tom Hemmingway pick up Highbury Vintners' award for specialist retailer of Spanish and Portuguese wines. Mark Andrew, senior buyer at Roberson, collects the London merchant's award for specialist retailer of wines from the Americas. Roberson has a particular focus on Californian wines. Gavin Deavile collects Handford Wines' award for specialist South African wines retailer of the year. Elizabeth Kelly and Garry Brooking, of Marks & Spencer, celebrate beating Tesco to be named supermarket of the year. Stephen Finch and Peter Ingram collect Vagabond Wines' prize for being named small independent retailer of the year. Francis Huicq accepts Berry Bros & Rudd's award for large independent wine retailer of the year. Tim Sykes, head of buying the Wine Society, picks up the group's award for national wine retailer of the year. Allan Cheesman, industry consultant and one of the judges, applauds the winners at the Connaught. Tom Lorimer from Lea and Sandeman who collected the runner-up award for Burgundy specialist The Wine Society was named runner-up for American specialist (with reference to South America) and runner-up for Spain and Portugal specialist
