He began writing about wine in 1999, using the newly emerging wine forums to share tasting notes and insights into the wines of Alsace, his home region. In 2001, Thierry started his signature dinner series dedicated to pairing Alsace wines with fine Alsatian food. Thierry founded L\u00e2\u0080\u0099Oenoth\u00c3\u00a8que Alsace in 2006 and launched the website <a href="http:\/\/www.oenoalsace.com" target="_blank">oenoalsace.com<\/a>, one of the most comprehensive modern resources dedicated to Alsace wines, and at the same time started to promote a program of structured Alsace wine masterclasses and dinners. From 2007 to 2011, Thierry was contributing editor of <em>Bettane & Desseauve Guide des Vins de France<\/em>, the influential French wine guide, and he is a member of Confrerie Saint Etienne d\u00e2\u0080\u0099Alsace, which gives him numerous occasions to taste Alsace wines which are up to 80 years of age.<img src="http:\/\/www.decanter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2013\/05\/000005913-Richard_Hemming_dwwa2012_JTrickett_2974.jpg"><h2>Richard Hemming DWWA 2013 Judge<\/h2>Richard Hemming is a freelance wine writer and educator. He has written for <a href="http:\/\/www.JancisRobinson.com" target="_blank">JancisRobinson.com<\/a> regularly since 2008, and is also drinks writer for <em>Sainsbury\u00e2\u0080\u0099s Magazine<\/em>, wine columnist for the <em>Publican\u00e2\u0080\u0099s Morning Advertiser<\/em> and has been published by the <em>Financial Times<\/em>, <em>Decanter<\/em>, the <em>Drinks Business<\/em>, <em>Harpers Wine & Spirit<\/em>, and <em>The World Of Fine Wine<\/em>. Alongside writing, Richard runs events and wine courses for companies and private clients. His previous roles in the wine industry include six years of UK retail management, viticultural assistant work at a leading estate in Kent, and surviving (just) the 2008 vintage in McLaren Vale as a cellarhand. Richard began studying for the Master of Wine qualification in 2009, passing the theory exam in 2011 and the tasting exam in 2012. She now writes for <em>The World of Fine Wine<\/em>, <em>Drinks Business<\/em>, <em>Decanter<\/em> and the <em>FT<\/em> among others, and is General Editor of <em>Hugh Johnson\u00e2\u0080\u0099s Pocket Wine Book<\/em> and Mitchell Beazley's forthcoming <em>Pocket Beer Book<\/em>. With Oz Clarke, she co-authors <em>Grapes & Wines<\/em>, of which an updated edition is imminent, and her latest book, <em>Exploring Wine<\/em>, will be published by Anova Books when they get round to it.<img src="http:\/\/www.decanter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2013\/05\/0000058e4-MarcelOrfordWilliams_justinetrickett_5649.jpg"><h2>Marcel Orford-Williams DWWA 2013 Judge<\/h2>Marcel Orford-Williams joined The Wine Society as a Buyer in 1986, where he has become a specialist for Alsace, Champagne and Southern France, including the Rh\u00c3\u00b4ne, Languedoc-Roussillon, Beaujolais and the South-West. In recognition of his services to French wine, Orford-Williams was made Chevalier de l\u00e2\u0080\u0099Ordre du M\u00c3\u00a9rite Agricole.
