Later, during his career as a chef, he was allured by the wine industry and spent numerous hours travelling to wine regions and tasting thousands of wines. After achieving several titles of Best Sommelier in Sweden, Scandinavia and Europe, his dream became true when he was crowned Best Sommelier in the World in 2007. Today, Andreas divides his time between working at renowned restaurant PM & V\u00c3\u00a4nner in V\u00c3\u00a4xj\u00c3\u00b6, Sweden (where he is the Wine Director, in charge of 25000 bottles and 2500 references from around the world) and travelling the globe as a taster, lecturer and consultant.<img src="http:\/\/www.decanter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2013\/05\/000005884-CaroMaurerMW_justinetrickett_5479.jpg"><h2>Caro Maurer MW DWWA 2013 Judge<\/h2>Caro Maurer MW is a wine writer based in Bonn, Germany, who currently shares her time between the <em>General-Anzeiger<\/em>, the daily newspaper in Bonn, and two magazines, <em>Der Feinschmecker<\/em> (The Gourmet) and the German edition of <em>FINE<\/em>. With a writing career spanning almost 20 years, Caro\u00e2\u0080\u0099s previous positions include working as a correspondent in New York and Los Angeles, as a Staff Editor for the German edition of <em>Forbes<\/em> magazine, and at <em>Die Welt<\/em> (The World), a German daily national newspaper. Caro is also a wine educator, and judges at international wine competitions.<img src="http:\/\/www.decanter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2013\/05\/000005868-AndreasWickhoffMW_justinetrickett_5489.jpg"><h2>Andreas Wickhoff MW DWWA 2013 Judge<\/h2>Andreas Wickhoff MW is Austria\u00e2\u0080\u0099s third Master of Wine and the Managing Director of Premium Estates of Austria, an association of the country\u00e2\u0080\u0098s leading wineries, which he established in 2004. As the coordinator of this fine selection of growers, he mainly promotes the group's wines and spirits worldwide but also assists in the production process. Prior to settling in Austria, Andreas worked as a sommelier and a wine buyer in Corsica, France and the USA. Andreas' educational background includes degrees in Tourism and Hotel Management from Bad Gleichenberg, Austria, and in Food & Hospitality Management from Martin College in Brisbane, Australia. He received his MW in 2012, winning four awards for excellence in particular areas of the exam.<img src="http:\/\/www.decanter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2013\/05\/0000058e9-MarkSavageMW_justinetrickett_5406.jpg"><h2>Mark Savage MW DWWA 2013 Judge<\/h2>Mark Savage MW was born in Uganda and classically educated at University College, Oxford, where he was also president of the university\u00e2\u0080\u0099s Wine Circle. He gained early wine trade experience with Mo\u00c3\u00abt & Chandon, Harrods, O.W.Loeb, and Tanners and, in 1975, was awarded The Vintners Scholarship, as well as winning the Ruinart Champagne Bursary to research the wine industry of the US Pacific Northwest. Mark passed his MW in 1980, and is currently the Owner and Managing Director of Savage Selection, a company which imports wines from small family estates in 16 countries. Occasionally contributing to wine journals, including <em>The World of Fine Wine<\/em>, Mark is the author of <em>The Red Wines of Burgundy<\/em>.
