Weather Conditions

Non-stop rain in April and May delayed the budding and the flowering in June was dreadful. Cold rain continued through July, August and September and it was only a hot, mild October and early November that allowed some grapes to ripen.

Best Appellations

No region escaped the results of this weather and the vintage was almost as bad as the 1980.

Best Producers

A few Eisweins were produced but some of them had the super-concentrated taste of unripe grapes.
