Tasting: Napa & Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon

Opaque red. Hefty plummy nose, rather porty and tarry. Plump, rounded, and succulent, with considerable weight of fruit, a pronounced oakiness, and a touch of heat on the finish, which is burlier than the attack. Somewhat overbearing but doesn’t lack fruit.

Very ripe, medium plus acidity, alcohol too high. The wine shows a lot of cooked red fruits.

Supple, succulent, excellent quality of fruit. Big without being overbearing. Structured and wonderfully controlled.
