Tasting: Napa & Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon

Opaque red. A bit stewed on the nose, cherry compote. Very rich, creamy, full-bodied, and yet the tannins are assertive. There’s impressive weight of fruit but this is still a bit OTT and lacks freshness and finesse. Quite good length.

The wine is too generous in sweetness and alcohol. There is great complexity but I think the alcohol is a little bit too high.

Toasty new oak is very high in the mix at every stage. You sense very good quality fruit, but it is muted by the oak.
