Tasting: Chianti Classico Riserva

Smoky, wild berry nose. Juicy-acid palate with bright fruit, mid-weight and linear blackberry fruit finish.

Structured, pointed black fruity Reserva. Big fruit, big tannins and acid, sort of like a pantomime dame. Will improve with time, currently very strong, even beef stocky.

A shame it comes after the previous wine – this has an appealing nose and ripe fruit with integrated oak. Tannins are well-judged but there is noticeable VA and the finish is short.
