Tasting: Bierzo Mencia

Fruit compote notes allied to well-managed oak that supports but doesn’t dominate. Alcohol level is prominent, but overall well-made. Needs time.

Restrained meaty and berry fruit aromas, with nice spiciness of the oak. Intriguing rather than overt. Balanced in palate, clean and expressive, very modern but keeping some the mencía signature. Nice finish, open> Modern style, very well made, lovely to get to know Bierzo before going to wilder wines.

Tasting: Bierzo Mencia

Good aromatic profile, floral, red fruits, vanilla, finely blended. Palate is supple and youthful with plenty of red fruit and vanilla. Lacks real intensity and complexity. Long finish with a note of spice.
