2013 is set to be another vintage year for Le Clos; the award-winning, duty free Finest Wines and Luxury Spirits retailer, which has just opened its new 122-square-metre flagship store – the third Le Clos outlet – located on Concourse A inside Dubai International Airport’s Terminal 3.
If the first Le Clos store was an award-winning breath of fresh air, the new store is a real show stopper with an innovative and elegant new design, which takes the presentation of Le Clos’ world class wines and spirits portfolio to a new level, with a host of new interactive features to enrich the customer experience and complement the product knowledge of the expert team of multilingual staff.
According to Ben Odgers, Head of Le Clos, the challenge and opportunity at Concourse A was to meet the ambitions of the first purpose built A380 terminal at one of the world’s busiest airports for international passengers – the emergin crossroads of the world.
“We had to consider how to push our ground breaking and award winning concept even further, raising the bar for our new flagship in terms of scale, imagination and customer experience. We set out to create a super premium environment, unique in travel retail. We started by ripping up the rule book and the result is the most innovative and exciting wine and spirits store in the world. Of course, all of this is backed up by Le Clos’ world class portfolio, product expertise and service commitment.”
Customers enter this new world of Le Clos through the dramatic entrance, formed by a decommissioned ‘Whisky Still’ from one of Scotland’s finest distilleries, rising six metres above the Concourse level. Customers passing through the still are immediately faced with the impressive five metre high ‘Wall of Wine’.
Moving deeper into the store, new experiences and innovative services abound, including in-store wine tasting, personalised bottle engraving for a truly unique memento of Le Clos, and a ‘bottle your own whisky’ opportunity. Multimedia features such as the interactive whisky journey enhance the experience of customers, whatever their specialist passion and level of knowledge – finest Bordeaux or rare whisky expressions – complemented by specially commissioned educational films focusing on some of the key product ranges.
The extensive product portfolio is even more expansive at the flagship store, with a unique range of highly sought after items, from individual bottles – including the world’s oldest Chateau Petrus – to vertical collections of some of the world’s most illustrious wineries, such as Chateau Mouton, spanning three centuries, as well as wines that have never seen the light of day before, supplied direct from the Chateaux cellars, thanks to Le Clos’ close relationships with the producers. Le Clos’ world class selection includes rare and highly sought after wines from stunning vintages to iconic new wines and spirits steeped in tradition and history, with truly unique bottles of international significance such as first vintage Opus One and Dominus. Whisky connoisseurs can savour rare expressions from the unique Macallan collection, acquired recently by Le Clos.
However, the ultimate personalised customer experience remains Le Clos’ highly qualified team of professional experts, who can guide customers on their preferred selections across the range in more than 20 languages, 24 hours per day. Le Clos staff are all handpicked and bring outstanding wines/spirits expert knowledge for the benefit of customers.
Patrons of Le Clos wanting to discover more about the extensive portfolio can browse through the online cellar; customers can reserve selections before their flights, through the interactive website – choose on departure and collect on arrival through the dedicated concierge service; First Class passengers can opt to pick up their order from the Emirates lounge.
True to Le Clos’ passion for delivering premium customer service and creating innovative and unique experiences, the new flagship store launched with a special promotion for a once in a lifetime opportunity to win a mixed case of stunning first growth and other iconic Bordeaux wines from famed Chateaux worth more than USD20,000, featuring bottles from the fabulous 2003 vintage – one more way to reward loyal clients.
If Dubai International is emerging as the crossroads of the world, then Le Clos is determined to be the premium wine/spirits store on the travelling world’s favourite high street.
