White Single Varietal under £10

And the winner is...

Lunae, Vermentino, Colli di Luni, Liguria,
Italy 2010 (13%)

Fresh peachy nose with ample concentration and a
bright, breezy charm. Piquant and refreshing, tangy
and grassy – a delightful summer refresher. Top class.
UK: £12.99*; Arm. US: $19.99; USLCO

Top marks to the Lunae Bosoni estate for a wine that stands out in a crowd of established, global players. A stellar effort, which ensures this Trophy remains in Italy for another year. Vermentino is found mainly along the Mediterranean coast (as Rolle in southern France and in Liguria, Tuscany, Sardinia and Corsica). The Colli di Luni DOC, with Vermentino as the sole grape for white wine (and Sangiovese for red) crosses the regional boundary of Tuscany and Liguria, with most of the appellation in the latter.
