Waitrose, No1 Crusted Port, Douro Valley, Portugal, 2015

92
Tasted by: Amy Wislocki
(at Waitrose Cookery School, Finchley Road, London, 13 Oct 2021)
Drinking Window: 2021 - 2025
Crusted Port is similar to regular vintage in style, but ready to drink sooner. It’s bottled unfined and unfiltered, and then given at least three years’ bottle age, during which time a sediment will form in the bottle. This great value example of the style is vintage dated (most are a blend of vintages), and is made exclusively for Waitrose by the Symington family. Aromatic, perfumed and silky, it offers heady aromas and flavours of spicy, dark, plummy fruit, and a hint of dark chocolate.
