History:

The Bordeaux Ferrières founded (pre-Revolution) and ran this estate up until the First World War when Armand Feuillerat (owner of Marquis de Terme) bought it, later granting it to André Durand, his daughter. Durand ran the operation almost to the close of the 20th century, latterly leasing the vineyard to Alexis Lichine (of Prieure-Lichine) who with the backing of the owners of Chateau Lascombes replanted and expanded the tiny plot. The property next entered corporate ownership of a group driven by Château Chasse-Spleen. The Ferrière hectares were managed by Bernadette Villars, daughter of Chasse-Spleen owner Jacques Merlaut. After a fatal hiking accident took Bernadette and her husband, her own daughter Claire now guides this small vineyard out of the shadow of surrounding Margaux greats.
