DWWA 2011: Gold medal organics
Matetic Vineyard: A DWWA gold-medal winning organic Syrah producer
Both Argentina and Chile have ideal climates for organic production: dry and warm, with low humidity and geographically isolated. So, it’s no surprise three of Decanter’s best value gold-winning organic wines are from South America.
They are Domaine Jean Bousquet Malbec, Tupungato, Mendoza 2010 (£8.50); Odfjell, Orzada Carignan, Maule Valley 2008 (£13.99); and Matetic, Syrah Corralillo, San Antonio 2009 (£14).
New Zealand is also gaining a reputation for organic production. It is hoped that 20% of the country’s vineyards will be organic by 2020.
The gold winning biodynamically-produced Rock Ferry Late Harvest Riesling, Marlborough 2009 features in the top five best value gold medal winning organic wines (£11.50)
Regional trophy winner Jorge Ordoňez, No. 3 Viňas Viejas, Málaga 2006 also makes the top five for best value, best-tasting organic wines but this sweet wine will set you back £35-40.

I've tryied this Jean Bousquet Malbec 2010 few months ago and this is really awesome. It's pretty new in my country (BRASIL). I may say it was a surprise the rich fruit, structured body and long finish. I was so disapointed with previous organic wines I've tasted before ... but this one really seems to extract the best from grapes. Cheers. Luiz
