Galvin La Chapelle scoops top Tatler award

Housed in the former church hall of St Botolph's in Spitalfields, La Chapelle (pictured) is the latest London opening from Chris and Jeff Galvin, who also run the award-winning Galvin Bistrot de Luxe and Galvin at Windows in the Hilton Park Lane.
During the ceremony at The Langham Hotel, gongs were awarded in 10 categories including Best Kitchen (Marcus Wareing at the Berkeley) and Best Newcomer (Kitchen W8).
There is also a new category: the Taste of London Rising Star Award, which went to Stephen Williams of newly Michelin-starred Fulham gastropub The Harwood Arms.
On the wine front, the Best Wine List and Sommelier award went to Nicolas Clerc of Le Pont de la Tour.
Veteran restaurateur, designer and retailer Sir Terence Conran was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Conran, who founded a number of London’s top restaurants including The Bluebird, Quaglino’s and Le Pont de la Tour, sold 49% of his company to D&D London in 2007, but returned to the restaurant business in 2008, opening Boundary in Shoreditch and Lutyens in Fleet Street a year later.
‘A lifetime achievement award makes me sound like something stale in the fridge,’ Conran said.
‘But I’m not. I’ve got more on my plate than ever before and I don’t intend to stop any time soon.’
