Simon Tam to head Christie's in China

Simon Tam, the founder of the Independent Wine Centre will lead the auction house's move into Greater China from his Hong Kong base.
Christie's has also added to its Asia team with a new head of marketing for the region and a Shanghai representative.
Francois Curiel, president of Christie's Asia, said: 'These appointments are part of a larger set of initiatives planned for 2011 which demonstrate, once again, our great commitment to Asia and our desire to offer the best service possible to collectors throughout the region.'
This week London merchant Bordeaux Index announced it will launch a wine school in Hong Kong. Hong Kong wine educator Anastasia Mak will run the school, based on Michael Schuster's courses at Bordeaux Index's London office.

Nice that you mention someone - that no one in West Europe has ever heard of .... Sad that you oversee the death of one of the most important wine makers in Germany - who, next to that has won a number of Decanter Awards .... Wolf Salwey ...
Sad to say but Decanter has lost its grip - from once the "Best Wine Magazine in the World" to ..... maybe you should write it in Chinese in the future !!!

Excellent choice. We invited Simon to speak at the 1st International Wine Tourism Conference in 2004 in Margaret River. Not only did he speak tremely well, but through his work ethic became one of the working conference team over the week!
