Perrin family of Beaucastel opens pop-up store for new Eurostar route

The Perrin family, owner of Chateau Beaucastel in Chateauneuf du Pape, and co-producers of Chateau Miraval with Brad and Angelina Jolie-Pitt, has opened a pop-up wine store at Avignon TGV train station that will run from May to September 2015.

The shop has been opened to coincide with new direct Eurostar year-round links between London and Lyon, Marseille and Avignon, the Perrin family said.

The first trains left St Pancras London on 1 May, 2015, with a journey time of five hours to Lyon, six to Avignon and seven to Marseille. The inaugural service had a tasting on Provence wines on board, including Chateaux Pigoudet, de Berne and Domaine St Mitre.

Charles Perrin described the design of the store as a ‘giant wooden wine case like the ones used to transport our wines around the world’, and said that it will contain all the family wines from the southern and northern Rhone Valley, and those of their partners.

The family also opened a boutique in Aix en Provence earlier this year.

Last year, brothers Francois and Jean-Pierre Perrin jointly received Decanter’s Man of the Year award for their work at Beaucastel, as well as in the Rhone more generally and also for pioneering Rhone varieties in California.
