Latour and Robinson host charity dinner at Berry’s

Nine vintages of the Pauillac First Growth will accompany a four-course dinner held in the cellars beneath Berry’s London shop on St James’s Street on 13 March.
Vintages being served that evening include the 1983 (‘the most amazingly ready and drinkable Latour’), ’75 (‘might well have more to offer’) and ‘64 (‘fully mature, lovely’). All score highly in Michael Broadbent’s Vintage Wine book.
The other wines being served include the less exalted 1991, ‘81, ‘78, ‘73, ‘71 and ‘67 vintages, none of which score higher than three out of five stars in Vintage Wine.
Guests are invited to bid for the 55 places available at the tasting. Jancis Robinson MW, Frederic Engerer (head of Chateau Latrour) and Simon Berry (of Berry Bros & Rudd) will compere the dinner.
Money raised from the dinner will go to Wine Relief, a branch of one of the UK's biggest charity events, Comic Relief.
Wine Relief was set up by Jancis Robinson MW and her husband Nick Lander in 1999. Since then, it has raised over £2.7m for Comic Relief.
Berry Bros. & Rudd has said it will also donate 10% of all sales of their Good Ordinary Claret to the charity in the six weeks before Red Nose Day on 13 March.
