South Africa's Constantia Uitsig on sale for £11m

The estate, which traces its history back to the 17th century, had fallen into disrepair by the 1980s, but was restored by David and Marlene McCay after they bought it in 1988.
Formerly known as Constantia View, it was owned by the Lategan family for five generations and is a part of the original Groot Constantia land grant.
Now it ranges over 60 hectares, 33ha of which is under vine, and produces Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and red and white Bordeaux blends.
All white wines are bottled under screwcap, with estate agent Fine & Country describing Constantia Uitsig as ‘one of South Africa’s screwcap closure pioneers’.
Also on site are three restaurants, including La Colombe, which was ranked 12th in the San Pellegrino 50 Best Restaurants of the World Awards in 2010.
The others are Constantia Uitsig Restaurant under head chef Clayton Bell, which is housed in the original Cape Dutch homestead, and The River Café, offering more informal dining.
Constantia Uitsig also includes a 16-bedroom luxury hotel, a private cricket ground and a spa, which was featured in Tatler’s Guide to the Top Spas in the World 2007.
