Six years after the last edition, the seventh version of the book – and the third co-authored by the two renowned wine writers – aims to reflect changes in climate, winemaking techniques and where grapes are grown.

It also aims to chart the growth of ‘new’ winemaking countries such as China, with its 215 maps including 25 newcomers, such as coastal Croatia, Canterbury in New Zealand, Swartland in South Africa and Ningxia in China.

The iPad eBook version includes all the content of the printed edition, but has interactive maps, galleries of wine labels, an author video and note-taking features.

‘Being able to zoom in on the detail of our wonderfully detailed maps really makes a difference,’ said Robinson.

The seventh edition of The World Atlas of Wine will be published on 7 October by Mitchell Beazley in hardback, priced £40.

The iBook version will also be published in October, priced £19.99 in Apple’s iBook Store.
