deputy web editor, decanter.com

Decanter, the world’s most respected and authoritative wine magazine and website, needs a deputy web editor to help steer it through the next exciting phase of development.

This is a hugely demanding and responsible job. We are looking for a journalist with superb web content production skills. As well as being an excellent writer with a nose for a good story, you will be absolutely web literate, able to code basic html, to execute best practice search engine optimisation and to successfully use social media to promote Decanter. You will be able to shoot, edit and publish video and know your way around web publishing packages such as Dreamweaver.

Good spoken French and/or other European languages would be an advantage. Knowledge of wine isn’t essential, but willingness to immerse yourself in the intricacies of the wine world is.

Working closely with the web editor and the Decanter magazine editorial, marketing and events teams, key responsibilities will be creation, commissioning and publishing of web content including news stories, videos, competitions, email newsletters, ads and advertorials, and microsites. The successful candidate will also to expected to contribute ideas towards maximising opportunities to grow revenue and traffic to the site.
