Haut-Brion owner at Naples Winter Wine Festival

Prince Robert of Luxembourg, owner of Chateau Haut-Brion, will take part in what has become the biggest wine auction in the US, the Naples Winter Wine Festival

Haut-Brion: vertical from 1921

The 12th annual Florida event takes place in January 2012, offering 65 lots of some of the world’s top wines, including a vertical of Haut-Brion going back to 1921.

The owner of Haut-Brion and Château La Mission Haut-Brion joins a list of past ‘honored vintners’ at the event that includes Aubert de Villaine of Domaine de la Romanee-Conti.

Lots include magnums from the 28 participating vintners, including Château Cos d’Estournel, Château Haut-Brion, Colgin Cellars, Pingus, GAJA, Vega Sicilia, Shafer Vineyards and Staglin Family Vineyards.

Another lot features ‘A 30-year Celebration Dinner of the Great 1982 vintage’.

Wines from the celebrated vintage that will be served include Château Lafite Rothschild, Château Beychevelle, Château Calon Segur, Château Cheval Blanc, Château Haut-Brion, Château Latour and Château Lynch Bages.

Large format bottles and winery visits to Pingus and Vega Sicilia are also on offer.

In the past 11 years, the three-day event has raised about US$95m for children’s charities in the region.

The Naples Winter Wine Festival takes place 27-29 January 2012 in Naples, Florida.
